How do I qualify for a Miss Maud Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are available for people from the age of 16 to 64.

 

Do I need to be Part Time or Full Time to complete a Apprenticeship?

Yes and if Part Time you need to be rostered for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

 

What if i have been working as a assistant to a qualified pastrycook and already possess some of the skills?

You can be formally recognised for possessing skills and knowledge in the relevant areas, as this may come off your apprenticeship.

 

What days will I be working?

Dependent on the position, but most require you to be available Sunday through to Friday.

 

Will I have to work nights?

Dependent on the position, but most require you to work nights as well as days.

 

Do I have to attend Tafe?

Yes you do have to attend Tafe 1 day per week, as this is apart of your training. 

 

Am I paid for the day that I attend Tafe?

Yes you are paid your normal wages.

 

What will I be paid?

You will be paid in accordance with the State Apprenticeship Wage Rates for the relevant apprentice.

 

How long will it take me to complete my apprenticeship?

Most apprenticeships are for 3 years.

 

Am I provided with a uniform?

PastryCooks/Bakers - You do pay a small fee to hire a uniform, but uniform cleaning is included..

Chefs - You are required to wear black pants and a white shirt, you will recieve a uniform allowance as per the relevant wages award.
