Hundreds of students and guests celebrated the launch of WA Week at the Constitutional Centre of WA on Monday, 20 October 2008.
His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC Governor of Western Australia joined Miss Maud in cutting the giant community cake to officially launch WA Week. The cake featured the WA Week logo, and was crafted by Miss Maud Pastry Chefs for the occasion.
Miss Maud – Maud Edmiston – was recognized by Celebrate WA in 2001 for her contribution to Industry and Commerce, receiving the honour of CitWA. To date, she is the only woman to have received the award since its inception in 1971.
